Abstract
This study was conducted for the banding pattern of E. coli chromosome isolated from goats, duck and pigeon by Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis through which the clonal relation between the isolated E. coli from different species was found. The E. coli strains, which were run through Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis, were then allowed for antibiotic sensitivity pattern to find out the possible correlation between chromosomal banding pattern and antibiotic resistance pattern of the isolates. Antibiogram study revealed that Erythromycin (95-100%) resistant E. coli was more prevalent in goat isolates. Ciprofloxacin and Chloramphenicol was the most sensitive antibiotic to E. coli isolate of goat. Chromosomal banding pattern and antibiotic resistance pattern of the isolates of E. coli from goat of apparently healthy cases from same and different location were found identical, which indicates similar clonal origin of E. coli and indicating a possible correlation between chromosomal banding pattern and antibiotic resistance pattern. But Chromosomal banding pattern and antibiotic resistant pattern of E. coli from goats of clinical cases and duck of different area were found dissimilar which indicates no clonal relatedness between the strains, whereas banding pattern and antibiotic resistant pattern of E. coli from pigeon of similar locality were given similar results which might be due to clonally similar origin of E. coli strain.
