The Effectiveness of Learning Objects in an Online Environment

This research examined the effectiveness of learning objects in an online environment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of three learning objects: video lectures, video tutorials, and project examples used in online environments. The research aimed, through survey methodology, to answer the following questions: 1) Do video lectures enhance information comprehension? 2) Do video tutorials enhance learning motivation? 3) Do project examples assist in learning process? In the findings, students reported that video lectures enhance information comprehension. The majority of students, over 90%, reported that they prefer online classes that uses learning objects. They reported that online objects motivate them towards more effective acquiring of the content of the subject. Participants, in addition, agreed that project examples assist their learning processes. It was recommended that more research be conducted to investigate online learning objects in relation to different types of classes and topics.
