Effect of School Factors on Academic Achievement in Agricultural Science Among Selected Secondary Schools in Oyo, Oyo State, Nigeria

Abstract
The study was conducted to assess the effect of school factors on academic achievement of agricultural science student in senior secondary schools in Oyo West Local Government Area of Oyo state. Three research questions and hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design of the ex-post facto type and made use of a sample of 100 structured questionnaires. Data collected were analysed using means, standard deviation and multiple regressions for the seven variables that contributed significantly to the students’ achievement in Agricultural science are textbook (β=0.47, t=1.09, P<0.05), conducive environment (β=1.35, t=1.8, P<0.05), classrooms (β=2.47, t=1.6, P<0.05) instructional materials (β=3.48, t=0.90, P<0.05), health service (β=3.98, t=1.03, P<0.05), laboratories (β=4.35, t=0.58, P<0.05) and libraries (β=1.38, t=1.59, P<0.05). All these variables have been claimed to have contributed significantly to students’ achievement in Agricultural science. Therefore, government and other stakeholders should ensure that schools are provided with effective and adequate school factors to enhance the outstanding performance in Agricultural science.
