Abstract
Acute massive pulmonary embolism (PE) is a life-threatening emergency with a very high mortality. Patients with massive PE are more prone to undergo sudden cardiopulmonary decompensation, hence anaesthetic management of such patients is usually very challenging. We present a case-report highlighting the anaesthetic management for surgical pulmonary embolectomy for acute massive PE on the basis of clinical presentation, emergent diagnostic aids and management.
