Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is a worldwide problem which has become a recurring menace, and worrisome for mankind. SBS is associated with non specific symptoms, which has attracted researchers and yet little has actually been proven about it. The aim of this study is on analysis of symptomatology of sick building syndrome in selected office buildings in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria, The methodology involved survey research design, structured questionnaires, interviews and review of related literature. The Staff of the three office buildings A, B and C formed the population, while purposive sampling techniques was used to select one hundred and five (105) Workers Questionnaires were distributed to the 105 workers using stratified random sampling method. Ninety (90) was returned which was 86% response rate. Data was analyzed using frequencies, percentages, column charts, pie chart and Pearson correlation coefficient was employed in testing the hypothesis. Results identified the major health impaired symptoms of SBS like pains and discomfort, headache, cough, sneezing and tiredness/fatigue. Consequently it was however discovered that these symptoms were consistently more common in the indoor working environment. Certain conditions like, inadequate ventilation, cold, noise, stuffy, perfumes, poor lighting, dust, chemical and biological contaminants, Poor maintenance and re-circulation of air and pollutants were found to be some of the causative factors. It is therefore recommended among others that occupant’s education and everyone involved with the design, construction and maintenance of buildings on the subject matter is necessary so as to reduce human activities, negative effect to the indoor working environment.
