Abstract
H-point curve isolation method (HPCIM) and generalized H-point standard addition method (GHPSAM) were applied and compared for simultaneous determination of ethinylestradiol (ST) and levonorgestrel (LEV). Simultaneous determination of ST and LEV was performed in conditions where interferences from unknown species and matrix effect exist. Standards were added to the solutions of tablets containing ST and LEV. Using HPCIM, the spectra of the unknown interferents including matrix effect were recovered for cases where LEV or ST is the analyte. H-pont standard addition method (HPSAM) was used in the next step to obtain the concentration of the compounds in the complex samples. Analyzing the same data by GHPSAM revealed the higher performances of it relative to HPCIM. Results for prediction of ST in the tablets as a minor component by HPCIM were not satisfactory.
